CKPE is the Canonical Knowledge and Provenance Engine. It manages evidence-linked assertions, facts, provenance, scope, temporal validity, confidence, contradiction and retention. It is not an opaque transcript or a permanent prompt.
A message may outlive an assertion derived from it. An assertion may be corrected or superseded without erasing the original source evidence.
Truth maintenance
CKPE can represent an assertion as claimed, partially supported, supported, disputed, contradicted, superseded or retracted. Promotion relies on lineage, corroboration, source trust, confidence, temporal validity and contradiction burden. Source evidence is never deleted merely because an assertion changes status.
Memory lifecycle
Memory moves through ephemeral, candidate, canonical, superseded, archived and deleted states. Candidate is not yet canonical. Deletion removes data from active retrieval views and derived indexes. Archived information remains traceable without occupying the active working context.
Contradiction without flattening
Contradictory memories can coexist explicitly with confidence, recency, source and status rather than being silently merged. The system can show what it knows, why, when it was true and where uncertainty remains.
